Today the workers are digging stairs into C for me - prompted by Vachiks fall into the trench yesterday. There is a bag labeled "C Stairs" in case there is any interesting material in there. The rest of the workers are still working on the A/B baulk - it is very slow b/c it is such a narrow space in which to work. The partial wall we thought we had yesterday isn't a wall, so they took it out. It was really too high up anyway. We have gone through a large part of the collapse layer, but still no sign of our wall. In C, we finished up C5, where some orange stuff keeps appearing in the NW corner. Decided to change loci -- the orange deposit is C7 and is restricted to the western part of the trench, while in the eastern side there is ashy stuff that will be C8. In C7 found a posthole today - took some photos but didn't have a clue what I was doing with the digital camera. Too many buttons. Hopefully something came out well enough.
