Continuing to remove the baulk and work in C8. In the morning we got down to the level of B in one section of the baulk - no wall in sight, so we took it out a little faster and removed it all down to the same level as the deposit to the south (which is the bottom of B17) This will all be taken out as one locus - B26 - took elevations and measured area, but did not begin excavating b/c we are supposed to screen and there was only about 20 minutes left in the day Today things were very confusing in C -- I am not doing anything with C7, the orange deposit, because I have no idea what it is. We are still digging the ashy material next to it, in C8. I made a small window to see what was coming, and there was a very clear and distinct color change, but only in the southern part of C8. I started to change loci, so the notes have a C9 and a C10, but later I decided that these were uneccessary so **there are no materials from these loci and they were never actually used** There are more details in the notebook on this point. Traced out the orange deposit while working in C8, so C7 is expanding in area although the elevations for this deposit are wildly uneven. At the bottom of C8 today we have been seeing small patches of yellow/orange -- we will have to explore it later.
