Narrative

We are continiung to work in both A and B. In A3, we are still removing the tan ashy deposit and tracing it to the south. The goal is to come up under the remaining rocks near the south baulk (which are from A2) to see if we can find a wall. With all of the collapse we had, there must be a substantial wall in there somewhere, although I think it is in the baulk b/c none of the rocks in the trench look like anything to me. So far, nothing like a wall - but we found several really well-preserved wooden beams! They were given separate loci (A4-A8) and removed as dendrochronological and C14 samples. Sketches of the beams, with approximate dimensions and orientations, can be found in the notebook. In B, we are working in the south extension (B11) removing topsoil and wash. We found a large jar rim in the SW corner of the extension, which is interesting because it is right behind (south) the place where we found the bowl.
