Today we continued cleaning the southern quadrant of the kurgan. AVH took photos of the stones south of the edge and then we removed them. This revealed more large stones in line with the curviliniar base course. We have left about a 1m section of the clay covering along the SE edge. There are a few spots on the kurgan where there are no stones. Underneath the top soil and roots, the surface is clay. There is a difference in the elevations of the kurgan. The NE edge of kurgan is -156cm and the SW is only -69cm from the center point. This probably reflects the natural slope of the landscape.
