Very heavy rains last night made WSL extremely wet. In fact, a deep puddle formed in locus 8. It was too slippery and dangerous to work in locus 20. So all workers were in WSM. We worked in locus 2 until encountering a light brown silty clay in half of the trench-the half along the NW wall. This wall appears to be well preserved to at least three courses. Created a locus 4 in the other half of the trench, which has the same matrix as locus 2-a medium brown silt. In general, it was a wet and rainy day so we worked slowly and stopped one hour early to go see the kurgan.
