Narrative

Today we worked on locus 6. We cleaned off the earth from just under the top small stones and then took out more--some small, some medium sized. At this point we started screening. We uncovered a large (cap)stone on the eastern side. It was broken/splintered on one end and and slopes downward into the chamber (toward the west), -64cm depth. On the north and south side of the chamber we found 2 long stones. The one in the north is long and skinny and runs parallel to & below the large basalt stone we originally noted excavating locus 2. The stone on the south side also runs parallel to the chamber wall (?), but seems to run under it. The western wall of the structure also seems to sloped downward and inward toward the large capstone in the west. However, some of these could probably be removed. The chamber may either be disturbed or have collapsed in. We only found a couple small pieces of obsidian and 1 small (about 1cmx1cm) ceramic sherd. The matrix included yellow, cream, green, orange, and black inclusions, with chalk, gravel, roots, and small bones. We took photos.
