We decided to leave locus 6 until it can be drawn and excavated locus 3, the large chalk capstone in the northern quadrant. After taking off the capstone, we excavted a small chamber--about 90cmx60cm--cut into the bedrock. There was extensive rodent disturbance and burrows. We found 5 teeth, several small pieces of bone that may be human/mammal, and rodent bones as we went down. The bottom of the chamber was -181cm. In the south-eastern corner we found a small (diameter 14cm, height 5cm, base 3.5cm) ceramic bowl (classical). We took photos and took out the bowl for soil/macrobot analysis. Under the bowl were some poorly preserved pieces of bone and one 10cm piece on the south. It seems likely that this was an intrusive burial since it was also in the northern quadrant where there were not any small stones covering locus 1 and part of the cromlech is missing.
