Today we began excavating locus 4/central construction. We began by removing the couple large stones and the small stones. We then used shovels and screened all buckets. We continued excavating down within the "circle" of stones (2 large chalk and smaller). The matrix is similar to what we found in locus 2--sandy & grey in the west and dark brown compact w/ more clay in the east. We found another (EB) ceramic handle.
