Narrative

6/30/2006, In the morning we continued taking down locus 5. We went down about 15 cm, no soil change. We also troweled out L.4, which has spatters of charcoal throughout and has an orange, sandy soil in spots--but isn't consistent and is not related to depth. We moved from the N wall S. A soil sample was taken approximately 1m N and 4m west. Elevation is about 2295.064m. We screened the dirt in the morning and in the afternoon, put it aside to be screened later, but was taken out of the trench. There is an animal hole in L. 5, about 2.5m from the S edge under the rocks. Could be disturbance. In the afternoon, about 2.5m S, we switched to shovels. We finally reaching an even level with the slope of the hill, at least part of the second half of the trench. We may be able to begin to open that up late next week. Found a bronze awl in the SW quadrant (see object registry). Also removed the complete jar, etc. and took a photo from the area near the North wall.
