07.01.06 Today we removed a lot of rocks from T16.114. Haik uncovered a very good stratigraphic image on the North baulk. It turns out that the dark soil on the north side was not a pit, just a richer, more clayey soil that had a discrete layer, though the layer did not extend all the way to the east into Locus 114. After discovering that and pedestaling the rocks around the 'pit', we removed them. The line of rocks that was running N/S parallel to the western edge of the trench also turned out in many places to be pedestaled, and we removed about 1/2 of them before the skies opened up and Magdu spit on us. ATS thinks this trench is just about played out; we'll look another 50 cm down for a continuation of the wall from T2E, but it doesn't look that good. In T19, the guys started to take down the middle 1/3, trying to level it with the western 1/3 so that we can look at the rock-carpet in the eastern 1/3. We removed a number of pedestaled rocks here as well, and anticipate the imminent removal of the behemoth rock near the north baulk.
