7/01/06 The day started out sunny, but by 3:30 we were drenched and had to cut the day short, yet again. Still, compared to the previous few days, today was relatively productive. In the afternoon we resumed in WSH, continuing to excavate locus 13. Also, excavated in the area between the walls of rooms H and G. This area is designated both WSH.04 and WSG.04. As with the architecture between rooms elsewhere at Tsaghkahovit, the situation is unclear. It seems that this space between the walls is not filled with a rubble core, but with dirt. Will dig a little deeper in this area on Monday to make sure, but again I am wondering about subterranian rooms. Continued excavating locus 3 of WSG, but this locus is still open. Same is true of locus 2 in WSI, where we also focused today. A very strange small find was discovered today -- a worked bone smiley face. Is this a toy of some sort? Is it an animal? Unclear, but frankly, sort of funny. The workers were happy to get paid today.
