We began today by cleaning the rocks in locus 2. We are trying to discover if any of them are part of a wall but are not sure as yet that any are architectural.. But we did come down upon a large flat stone in the western corner of the trench. We continued morning excavations by removing a few of the less promising stones. Just before lunchtime, we discovered a small ceramic cup underneath a stone in the southern corner that we had thought looked wall-like. As we troweled against the southern face of these stones to better define the cup, we found another large fragment of a large vessel. We were also able to trace the layer of yellow clay on the west side of the line of stones that covered the cup. Unfortunately, we were not able to complete work on these materials as the rain began just before lunchtime. We reburied the exposed ceramics and hope that they will not be disturbed.
