7/5/06 It was another day cut short due to cold and rain. When I arrived in the morning the trenches were absolutely soaking wet, with puddles in all three open operations. Naturally, this made it very difficult to work. It rained in the late morning, and by lunch time it was so cold that we decided to cut the day short and resume early the next day. Nevertheless, some progress was made in WSG locus 3, WSI locus 2 and WSI locus 3. In WSG locus 3 we continued to dig the silt wash level, although the moisture made it very difficult to differentiate soil differences. In WSI locus 2 we continued to excavate the silt wash level along the east, south-east side of the trench, where there were fewer puddles. Also continued to clear the dirt from the top of the southeast wall of room I (locus 3), although the architecture here is still unclear. Finally, I created a new locus in WSG, locus 5, to demarcate the small area adjacent to the walls that divide WSG from WSH, in the supposed doorway between the rooms. Exposed a series of rocks in this area, which I was not expecting, but I think they are mostly wall fall. Began troweling around them to make a determination, but ended the day before this was complete. One small find discovered today, a stone sindle whorl from WSI locus 2. Also, collected a radiocarbon sample in WSG locus 5.
