7.10.06, We're taking down 4 and 5 and making it a new locus 9. Locus 9, so far, has very low density. We screened in the morning, but stopped after lunch because we weren't finding anything in the screen. The charcoal has mostly disappeared and we're finding a sandier soil. I found a large in situ ceramic bowl in the afternoon, which is definitely EB. Since it is in situ, we think we've reached an EB floor. So...where is the LB floor?? The architecture now makes sense though--those high walls along the western edge of the trench are probably from the LB settlement and the EB walls are constructed across N/S the trench in the middle as well as along the S edge. We cleaned the whole floor to make it level and the trench looks great.
