Narrative

This morning we spent several hours preparing the karas sherds at the base of locus E645 for photography. There is at least one broken karas and perhaps a second on the northern half o the E645 pit floor. On the southern side of the pit are multiple EB sherds, some appearing to be karas sherds as well. This placement helps to confirm our suspicions further that the EB E618 floor was cut by the pit in the LBA, inducing the deposition of a significant amount of EB material from said floor. (The EB zoomorphic andirons were also found on the southern side.) Once the photographs were taken we began to collect the LB karas sherds and conduct pollen washes with MTM's assistance. We washed both a set of overlapping karas sherds and eligible base fragment from an apparent second vessel (E650.P.1 and E651.P.1). We also took vessel contents samples although with all of the destruction wood sitting above the floor it is doubtful that the LB vessels were deposited in the pit along with their contents.
