07/15/06.Burial 2: We cleared off some more of the cromlech stones to see how far the capstone extends to the west. We then decided to start excavating the area to the east of it where there are no stones. Again, there are similar matrixes as locus 7 of Burial 1. There is an orange brown clay matrix with 30-40% gravel, difficult to excavate, spots of beige, and then a darker brown silt loam, wet, in the southern part. In this last matrix we found a couple animal bones, including a possible large mammal (cow) scapula, and sheep/goat teeth. We covered up the locus at the end of the day with the plastic.Burial 3: we cleared off all of the capstones... they are huge and it seems that the large one may be fairly thick/deep as well. Not sure how we will get it off, talk of possibly using Ando's truck...Burial 4: continued to clean off locus 2 in between work on Burial 3.
