7.17.06 Began work in WSK at Tsaghkahovit today. ATS laid out 21 50x50 cm trenchettes, but one had a rock through its entirety and into the soil outside (so would have deformed the trenchette) and was abandoned, leaving 20: WSK.A through WSK.T. They are laid out across WSK in three east-west rows. We partially excavated A, down to over a meter, but it became difficult to see whether we had reached anything, and we abandoned it for a bit, to examine D, where the topsoil appeared less deep. And in both A and D, I found a more densely-packed, lighter soil, that caused me to change matrix, but an extremely low material density. Rain caused delays in finishing A and D, and starting the others. However, we did manage to remove 10 cm of topsoil from all of them before calling it a day.
