7/20/2006, We've removed some of the rocks that were against the fortress wall. Now, we're cleaning the rocks underneath, which will probably also be removed later. I don't think we've hit the actual floor in 14 yet. It's hard to say. There is a paved area in one section--this is locus 18. We're using trowels and screening. We found a necklace resting underneath a rock!! It's very beautiful--with tremendous variety, but unfortunately some of it fell apart (the paste beads) during removal. However, the majority of it remains.
