Today began with VERY hot temperatures and hazy skies as we commenced digging our lowest EB levels against the probable terrace wall on both the north and south sides of wall E609 (and its pedestal). After flattening locus E658, which was at that time at a lower elevation than the T2E SW quadrant excavations, we turned to the still open loci E630-632 in the SW quadrant. After finishing the south trench section wall cleaning via locus E660 we dug the entire area south of the new terrace wall terminus and west of the E618 baulk (previously locus E632) as locus E659. On the west side of the terrace wall we continued the excavation of locus E631, pulling several stones which were clearly wall fall roughly west of the terrace wall which continued to descend all afternoon. Ceramics and bone were light throughout both loci - healthy amounts of sherds, but certainly not high material frequencies. Interestingly, human remains, including 2 ribs, 2 vertebrae, a metacarpal, and several phalanges were scattered throughout locus E659 often close to the bedrock emerging at the base of excavation. Bedrock was first exposed in the easternmost portions of locus E659 (at the highest point on the slope) and is emerging slowly down slope, to the west.
