07.26.06 It was another day for visitors at Tsaghkahovit today. Gregory Areshyan, Husik Melkonyan, and Aram Kalantaryan visited briefly in the afternoon, and they were followed by Boris Gasparyan and the rest of his geological and paleontological team. The latter group was particularly interested in the white clay/sand deposit, which they examined at length in the pit of WSL. In other matters, Elizabeth finished with the trenchettes today and focused all her energies on WSC, both on the removal of topsoil from WSC3 and the removal of backdirt from WSC2. The most exciting development of the day, however, was in WSH, where we seem to have come upon a second floor in the area of locus 30. Not far from the northeast wall, we found at least three shattered vessels resting in situ on a packed clay floor. In the section of locus 30, it is possible to identify at least two floor levels, separated possibly by some sort of burning event evident from darker earth and some specs of carbon. The dimensions of locus 30 continue to change, as I expand the area to explore more and more of this lower floor. Will eventually draw the section of the two floors in this room. In WSI, we continued to work in locus 14, which will be finished by tomorrow morning.
