Narrative

With hazy and cool weather this morning we took closing elevations for E658 at the immediate beginning of the day and opened up locus E665 immediately below E658 (but of slightly smaller dimensions) amid sandier deposits of light yellowish brown (sandy silt). Additional cobbles in the locus E662 wall appeared as we cleared a first pass from E665, indicating that at least one additional course of stones would be present before we reached the granite bedrock. Judging by the level of bedrock across the locus E609 wall at the base of locus E631 it was clear that bedrock in the T2E NW quadrant would likely not be too much deeper. In the southern half of the trench we continued to clean locus E664 from the eastern side of the EB burial and remove the southern (sand) wall of the locus E645 LB pit (cut roughly north of the burial). Once these preparations were complete we began to clean the area directly north of the locus E662 wall/door, attempting to trowel the sand away from potential capstones in 5cm passes (locus E666). It was immediately apparent that instead of collapsed capstones we had only slightly slumped, yet in situ boulders - two completely flat capstones and one possibly vertical stone between them. Once the extent of the capstones and cist was clear
