Narrative

Morning Rounds:
WT1: Removing stones in S part of trench hoping to differentiate wall from fall. In the SE corner we now have a pale white ashy layer similar to WT1 from 1998.
NT3: Final photos taken today. Belinda is drawing the sections and then we will close the trench.
NT1: Removing stones from Area A and finding that they are set atop a pale ashy layer very similar to the one in WT3. We are hoping that the wall that produced all this fall is not hiding in the balk. Materials from below this rock layer look like big pithoi. The rocks may have sealed our level.
C3: Clearing rocks in both areas A and C. As yet no really clear architecture.
C4: Finishing excavation of the pit (locus 4). We will then do photos, draw the small section and close the trench.... Trench closing on hold. I am not convinced that the orange clay is bedrock so have removed the small line of stones that projected from the N balk and opened the center of the trench. We can now completely define the pit and will continue down in entire trench.
Afternoon Rounds:
NT3: Finished.
NT1: Continuing in Area A w/ excavations and will remove fall as we can. Also continuing in SE extension where we have found very nice and large pieces of LBA ceramics. 2 pieces with rolled punctate decoration are very early LBA.
WT3: By removing stones we have defined a nice wall face that extends from a nicely worked natural stone. We continue to remove rocks and do intervening cleaning.
C4: Continuing excavation of the pit. Will finish and draw section tomorrow.
C3: Continuing to clear stones in A and C. A second small pendant found in area C in fall.
Ended day early for July 4 party
