8/02/06 A relatively uneventful day in the west settlement. It was raining when we arrived, but by 10am the sun came out. I spent most of my time in WSH today, straightening out the section in the southeast side of the room. In the end, I didn't manage to draw the section because I spent much of the day cleaning and sweeping out the main part of the room for photos. Will draw the section tomorrow. At least two and in some places three floors are visible in this profile, with some of the floor surfaces very markedly packed. Work continued in WSI today as well, where one team continued to excavate and screen locus 16 in the south corner of the room and another team resumed work in locus 13, the area of the doorway or passageway. It seems like the walls of this part of the doorway are not quite as deep as those in the area of locus 9, but will know for sure tomorrow. Also, it now appears that the stones that are blocking this passageway at the point where it meets room K are in fact fall, which means the passageway may indeed lead into room K. Hopefully will finish in this area tomorrow.
