8.8.06 We're getting so close to the end of my time in Armenia, that ATS has suggested that we work on half of the trench, trying to uncover the floor. So today we worked on flattening the entire area so that we can start with sort of a tabula rasa and go from there. There is still a wash layer pretty much everywhere except along the SE wall, so I still have not changed locus. As soon as we cut the trench in half, though, I will create new loci, even though we'll be in the same soil. Today ATS looked at the eastern corner, at the clay adhering to the rocks. He agreed that there is clay between the rocks that may have been deliberately placed there, since it seems to be pure clay, not a clay soil. However, he noted that there is no striation to the clay on the rockfaces, suggesting that it is perhaps not layers of plaster.
