08.18.20 Today was Hasmik's first day of the season at Tsaghkahovit, and she began by working on the northeast wall in room H. Meanwhile, excavations continued in WSI and WSC3. In the former, we finished excavating locus 27, the sliver of clayish silt along the southeast wall, and created a new locus, locus 28, for the segment of silty clay along with northwest wall. This locus proved very shallow, since the clay floor is at a higher elevation in this area of the trench. By the end of the day, we had exposed the entire floor in room I, and in the process, exposed at least 2 column bases. One of these bases is just at the end of the stone feature, locus 25, while the other is on the same axis, about 2 meters away from the northeast wall. Will probably create artifact loci for these tomorrow. Today I also dedicated some time to cleaning the top of the southeast wall of room I, locus 3. Almost finished there. Will need to remeasure bottom elevations. Finally, work proceeded in WSC3 locus 8. The material quantities in this locus, and in this room more generally, are surprisingly low.
