Ruben, Ian, and I began mapping Aragatsiberd today with the robotic total station. After some morning hiccups, the device worked brilliantly and we successfully mapped about one fourth of the site (the southern slope and a little of the eastern slope). Walking the southern terraces revealed the highest (of two) one (south terrace 1) to be most amenable to a future trench (AB4). It has large uneroded swaths of territory (10m in breadth?) and some curvilnear surface acchitecture. LIke North Terrace 1 it also seems to be slightly "stepped" or compartmentaized into rectalinear sub-units.
