Narrative

Today we spent in T22, finally. We actually had to recut the trench, having miscalculated the length of the sides before, due no doubt to the bizarre slope that it is on. It is now a 6x7 m trench, 6m on the NS sides and 7 on the EW sides. We continued to take down the western 4m of the trench by 10 cm at a time, revealing a lovely array of rocks that appear to be primarily fall. We cleaned a number of them, but did not have enough time to thoroughly clean them all. We also found in the wash of the W corner, a complete LB vessel (Ar/Ge.T22.2) that had fallen upside down. It was also near a sherd scatter which contained sherds from two different vessels. These were photographed, and the sherds were bagged in separate bags but then placed in Ar/Ge.T22.1 ceramic bag #3. We have mostly LB sherds in the ceramic bags from the wash level (everything but the complete vessel is still in locus 1), but some EB sherds have also appeared. As we dug the 10 cm in the western half, we began to find more (and often larger) sherds than we had seen before. The day was quite productive, considering how amazingly windy it was; it was almost impossible to work in the afternoon. My guys worked quite hard with few complaints, and even didn't wait for the nasilke to be filled but would pick up other tools and keep going. Amazing.
