Gor and I finished laying out magnetometry survey grid in the morning. We are removing the wooden stakes at night so kids don't swipe them, so we are spray painting the base of each stake so we can find their positions and replace them each morning. After lunch we started the mag survey. The 1 ha grid was laid out at 20m spacing, but I decided to survey in 40m blocks. Using the baseline as the X axis, I walked 40m transects spaced 1m apart. The mag was cycling at 0.5 sec sample rate. I could have done a 0.25 sec rate, but the tech at GEM said you get more noise that way so it's often better to use a 0.5 sec rate and just walk a little slower to get the same level of detail. We'll see.We staked out four lengths of 40m strings, and Gor would transfer the lines over after I walked them. By the end of the day we finished on 40x40m block (0,0 to 40, 40 in the mag data; aka stakes 1 thru 15).
