Today we proceeded to excavate locus 3, the wash deposit in the northwest half of the interior of the room. The matrix is mostly a dark brown silt, except in the west corner, where I see the first traces of a lighter brown silt. I leveled off locus 3 and will measure bottom elevations tomorrow. Across most of the area, the dark brown silty wash level (with roots still scattered across it) continues. But I will create new loci to set apart the lighter brown matrix emerging in the west corner. I'd also like to maintain close control over material densities. Ruben was at Tsaghkahovit today to pay the workers.
