Completed the excavation of locus 05 and locus 04 today. Much of the day was spent cleaning rocks in the interior of the room and alongside the walls, and assessing whether they were fallen and therefore could be removed. The situation in the southern area of locus 05 is bewildering. There are several rocks hugging against what should be the southwest wall, but they are out of line and seem to be fallen. I removed some, only to find more rocks in a jumble beneath them. Will go deeper before removing any more rocks. In general, the southwest wall of the room is not yet clearly defined. After leveling off the trench from the excavation of locus 04 and 05, I decided to close these loci and redivide the interior of the room. I created locus 06 to designate the area close to the northeast wall, where there are also clusters of what appear to be fallen stones. I also created locus 07 to mark the 1.25 m area extending inward from the northwest wall of the trench. I did this in order to segregate the clayish, medium brown silt matrix alongside the wall, that presumable signals wall plastering. We began to excavate locus 07 first, but it is extremely rocky. Several rocks were removed. Tomorrow I'll create a locus 08 to designate the rest of the interior of the room, where the dark brown wash deposit seems to continue.
