2008-07-10. Thursday. Today was fairly straightforward-- after tidying up locus 112 a little bit and removing the remaining sherds (the grindstones are stilll there) I moved over to supervise a slow trowel pass over locus 107. I also 'rationalized' and cleaned in locus 110 a little bit. we removed a bunch of bone fragments, some sherds, and a fair amount of lithic material (including a square tuff grinder, plus a round stone to be removed tomorrow), though nothing was super large or in situ-- all sunk within a deep (more than 10 cm) mixed dark gray fill. Roman found one complete carnelian bead and some fragments of others, in the south part of the floor area near the LB wall. A piece of bronze wire-- perhaps an earring?-- came out of the screen. on the whole, work progressed slowly today, and the trench was plagued with insubordination. weather bright, hazy and hot.
