2008-07-16. Wednesday. continuing the shovel work in locus 107. it rained here overnight, and the soil is wet and cold. i hope to clear a lot of locus 107, although the deposit gets deeper as we go across from east to west. i am still looking for internal differentiation/ signs of a floor or soil change. the bedrock just seems to be going deeper, and all that remains is to shovel it. we removed the granite boulders which had been laid to the east side of the lower LB walls at the west side of loci 107/110, so that those walls could be drawn starting today. we did this based on photos from 2006, which did not feature those rocks. the bone bag count by 2 pm was 8 bags. so far we have uncovered an area of bedrock almost entirely flanking the mail LB wall. the bedrock dips about a meter (levels to follow), then curves away to the northwest. tomorrow we will continue digging, and i will strategize where to end this locus vis-a-vis the higher LB walls and locus 106.
