Narrative

A hot and productive day. We started by bringing the rest of locus 06 down to the bottom level of locus 08. The north corner of the trench is very rocky, so I spent the afternoon troweling and cleaning in this area to try and understand what is going on with the northern corner of the northwest wall. It seems increasingly possible that there is a doorway here, leading into room J. Not only are there missing stones and stones that are out of place, but also, the corner stones that belong to the northeast wall are very nicely faced in the north corner, as if belonging to the start of a passageway. The situation is made confusing by the jumble of rocks in the north corner, which I am reluctant to remove because I can't ascertain where the feature of the line of the long line of stones ends. Hopefully, the picture will become more clear with more cleaning. In the afternoon, we worked in locus 10, a new locus along the southwest wall. The matrix is the same as locus 09, but the size of the locus is larger.
