Narrative

The puddles were gone from the trench this morning, but it was still completely muddy. We spent the day working in locus 02 once again, the top course of the northwest wall. Excavated another ten or so centimeters in order to bring the clayish dirt fill of the wall down to the level of the internal course of stones. Many of the wall stones are impressively large, and two have holes on their top faces. I'm wondering whether these are post holes for a wood roofing. Material densities in locus 02 continue to be low, as I'd expect. In the north corner, we cleaned the stones lining the passageway into room J and also exposed the top of the second course of wall stones. Pavel, Adam, and Ruben visited today.
