2008-07-21. Monday. marching orders clarified this AM. we need to take outlocus 107 as far as it goes, cleaning off the bedrock to expose the terrace which was constructed in phase with the primary LB wall. it is becoming clearer now that this main and most solid wall was built along the edge of this terrace slope, and is perhaps south of a corresponding wall. the area between the structures was cut as far as a point now below the later LB walls, which also therefore mark the beginning of the preserved EB bedrock context. after the terrace area was filled by dumping activity from both sides (this is the cultural fill of locus 107), the secondary walls were built intersecting the main wall, and on top of the fill as well as over the EB bedrock. subsequent to this construction, the rock collapse occurred, covering the fill survace with the boulders now present. this leads to further questions regarding the nature and origin of the vessels which were removed from the rockfall in 2006 and this year. today i also did some cleaning in locus 109, remiving the fragmented vessel base which was lying there, and creating a temporary datum in order to measure its elevation, temporary datum D4 is located at z= 2283.12 masl, and the vessel was located at 2282.39 masl. locus 109 was cleaned of rainwash in preparation for a decision of whether locus 108/112 or 109 is to be taken down starting tomorrow.
