Today we worked again exclusively in T20, cleaning the terrace wall that lies between T20 and T22, and also the area east of the "pithos wall." In this eastern area, a large boulder fell today, and it's too big to remove from the trench now, without hurting the terrace wall at the eastern end of T20. But its departure provided an opportunity to clean and examine the area beneath where it had been, and there is a line of smallish rocks there that lie E-W, south of which is different soil than north of it. So perhaps we have some sort of construction, but if so, it's quite difficult to say without looking carefully at 2006's records and what might have been removed that could have corresponded to this soil change. We have removed a layer of dirt from the area just east of the pithos wall, revealing a matrix that is the gravelly, medium-grained light brown soil similar to the matrix just above the bedrock in T22.16. How far that extends to the east is as yet unclear.
