Remarks

The chamber construction was designated locus 11. The chamber was oriented northwest-southeast and approximately 1.15m x 1.3m x 1.15m. The northeastern, southeastern, and southwestern walls were all constructed from large basalt blocks that were faced. The southeastern wall was two courses. The lowest course was 1 large basalt block (1.15m x 0.62m x 0.25 (estimated)), while the upper course was one medium sized basalt block and several small stones. The interred body and vessels were placed near this wall. The northeastern wall was also 2 courses, but with 2 large faced basalt blocks (0.85m x 0.55m x 0.35 (estimated)). The northwestern wall, however, was made from several small basalt stones stacked on top of each other and not faced. Interestingly, this wall and the lower parts of the southwestern wall were covered by a light beige chalk bedrock matrix that was extremely compact and difficult to excavate through.
