This locus covers the western area of the interior of the room. I created this locus because we learned from locus 11 that the lighter brown clayish silt occurs in this half of the room at a considerable depth below locus 07. Also, we now know that this matrix slants downwards from southeast to northwest. Once we identify the medium brown clayish matrix here, it will be easier to identify the slant downwards from locus 07, which is why I am leaving the remaining area of what was locus 06 unexcavated for the time being (See plan). The deposit of locus 12 is a medium brown clayish silt--lighter than in the neighboring locus 11, perhaps because it is near to the wall (see journal 08).
