I closed locus 25 and opened this locus next because we exposed a series of stones in the east corner in locus 25 that vaguely appeared to be in some sort of circular arrangement. Given how high we are off the floor, I am rather confident that these are fallen stones. But to be safe, I've decided to divide the northeastern sector of the trench yet again, returning to the relation between locus 07 and locus 23. In other words, the new locus 26 has the same dimensions as locus 23 and 24. The matrix is still the endless medium brown rocky silt characteristic of wash deposits in the west settlement. As yet, there is no appreciable distinction in the nature of the deposit between the center of the locus and the area alongside the northeast wall. Material densities remain considerable in this locus, as with the one above.
