A small probe excavated just adjacent to locus 27, created in order to determine whether the rectangular mass of stones in locus 27 extends deeper than the single course of stones that is evident. The probe revealed that there is nothing beneath the box. The stones of the feature are resting directly upon the gray/yellow clay bedrock deposit. There was no need to screen this matrix. It was just the pure gray/yellow sterile clay.
