This locus, of dark, loamy soil similar to Locus 3 above, was declared after the rockfall in the northern area of the trench was taken out, as it differs from the clay, organic rich mottled matrix of Locus 6 in the eastern corner. Its separation from Locus 6 is still being determined as of 7/8/10. This locus is a combination of Locus 3 and 4, as the matrix appears the same throughout the rest of the trench. It is possible that the 'floor' appearing in the eastern corner is beneath Locus 7 in the northern and western areas of the trench, at a lower elevation. For elevations and measurements, see notebook (elevation given is center of trench; measurements are NW trench baulk and extent of locus in northern part). The locus was closed on 7/10/10 and became Locus 10.
