Locus 9 was the deposit of greasy black highly organic stained clayey soil between the stone gutters which delimited locus 12 (clay floors). Originally and in the north part of the operation between the stones (where Locus 9 is the shallowest) Locus 9 was removed as a whole deposit-- however, when the southern sections of the operation were reached it was seen that the deposit actually consisted of consecutive deposits of blackened organic and orange clayey soils. These deposits were then removed and measured individually in the SW and SE corners of the upside-down-T-shaped gutter. 3 soil samples from 09 for macrobot: 1 just south of Locus 10 (platform); 2 southwest corner of operation, and 3 (taken 8/13) from southeast corner of operation.
