6/30/13 The locus extends across what appears to be an interior space, but not yet clear what kind of interior this is--the interior of a room, as originally thought, or the interior of a passageway of some sort, as it is beginning to appear given the second alignment of stones that runs roughly parallel to the first. The matrix is mostly the same dark brown silt, but there is a lens of a light brown clayish silt deposit that appears along a few of the stones of the east-west running wall (not extensive enough to justify a separate locus). Nevertheless, this coupled with the appearance of one small piece of limestone in this locus, as well as traces of clay plastering on a stone of the east to west running wall, suggest we are getting close to cultural levels. Locus 4 bottomed on a pebbly silt.
