This is the cleaning locus for the rockfall located approximately 3.6 m from the SE baulk, and approximately 1.3 m from the SW baulk. It lies between two large stones and was made in the first extension of WSDB. The opening elevs: N: 2137.575; W: 2137.67; S: 2137.51; E: 2137.37; center: 2137.41. The soil appears still to be a wash level. The locus was closed and changed to Locus 18 when we began to find significant quantities of bone and ceramics. The top and bottom elevs listed above were measured in the north corner, because the \\\\\\\"center\\\\\\\" of the locus appears to have been measured differently at different times. Closing elevs: N: 2137.525; W: 2137.535; S: 2137.561; E: 2137.49. This locus is the highest that lies above the burial (human remains = Locus 20; surrounding matrix = Locus 18.)
Because of the burial, and the fact that it seemed to be surrounded by the dark, loamy wash layer typical to Tsaghkahovit, this \"wash layer\" is not necessarily no context, and therefore its material has been saved.
