This locus has very little soil change from Locus 1,which had a rich, loamy topsoil. There is a slightly lighter lens near the E corner of the locus, but it has no discernible boundary with the darker soil that matches the soil of Locus 1. Locus 2 was created because it lies to the west of the line of rocks 1.2 m from the NE baulk, and then comprises the rest of the trench. It has been removed piecemeal, and so it is still open. Closed when the operation was halted.
