This locus is located within the interior walls of the room, within locus 1. It is bordered by the NE, SE, baulk and NW wall. Locus 2 was opened to excavate the interior of the room. The soil is dark and black and loose with lots of rocky soil. The first pass in locus 2 removed a shovel full. I did not find much bone or obsidian in the first pass. I decided to take another pass, as there was no change in the soil and the material levels were not great. The second pass of soil revealed a medium brown soil on the bottom. I noted clay material around the NE, SE wall corner. I found a large platter in the corner at the bottom of locus 2, which I made a small find. I also found iron in the form of a ring and a small sheet of metal. I can see 2 wall courses at the bottom of this locus. After troweling around the small find, I wonder if I am at a previous occupation location. I took a charcoal sample. No soil samples fro this locus.
