This context was characterized by a dark blackish grey matrix, rich in biorganics. While the sediment had a granular aesthetic it was fairly compact and had a claylike feel to it. This locus revealed the presence of more stones that were of greater size and in a more clearcut orientation than that of locus 3. These stones appeared to extend into the eastern and southern baulks. It was based on the rich architectural and cultural material finds that we deduced the need for and direction of our expanded unit.
