This locus is situated in the westernmost part of T38. Directly underlying the topsoil it is a dark brownish grey matrix comprised of a well sorted, fine grained sediment. Within this locus we noted the presence of a few large stones in the southwest corner. This locus appears to be resting directly atop bedrock, as is indicated by the sporadic presence of the tan granular sediment. Situated at a considerably lower elevation than that of the remainder of the unit, it is unsurprising that we first encountered cultural deposits in this area. While it appears that some erosion has occurred in this downslope region of the unit, we did find a substantial amount of pottery in this locus. This locus borders loci 3, 5, and 7.
