Mirak Operation 03

This operation is a 2 meter X 2 meter trench directly behind/inside of the outer, circular fortress wall. It was placed in an area where the wall is best preserved. The objective of this operation is to acquire an adequate stratigraphy (occupational and otherwise) as well as to clean the segment of fortress wall in front of the trench to establish the period during which it was built. The datum is less than a meter from the SW corner and the back dirt pile is about 3m from the W side of the trench. Along the south side of the trench a little bit of the fortress wall protrudes into the trench.

This operation was expanded by 2 meters to the South on 7/20/17 in order to include the fortress wall in the operation. This will allow us to dig around the stones of the wall in order to reveal the architecture.
