We came down upon a layer of yellow clay in the southern portion of the trench. We discovered a small whole cup under the rocks in the southern corner. Just adjacent we uncovered a large, possibly complete vessel set into the clay layer. Along the southwest balk we discovered that the yellow clay continues an was associated with a small amount of charcoal which was kept for analysis. We could not complete the locus in the same day because rain began just before lunch.
